31-08-2018 | Actuarial Control Cycle and Valuation Control Process To introduce / review with / update the audience with the concept of Actuarial Control Cycle and the practical implication on the valuation process. Also touch on the important of control processes in valuation as well as the human elements in managing an actuarial team.
Fred Chan, Manulife Fred Chan is currently the AVP Actuarial Project at Manulife Regional Office in Hong Kong. Prior to this, Fred was the Chief Actuary of Manulife Indonesia and was responsible for the overall actuarial aspects of the operation. This included strategic development, financial reporting, process & compliance, capital management, business plan as well as the pricing process where he was the interim pricing officer since 2017 until June 2018. Fred also played key roles in various committees including ALCO and Performance Management. Prior to joining Manulife Indonesia in 2012, he has experience in multiple markets in Asia including China and India; with projects including mergers and acquisition, strategic review, distribution and product development. He also has over 10 years of experience in Indonesia with various other roles including head of product development and finance director of multinational companies. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and has a Master of Business Administration (Executive) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
